QR code for your business card
A vCard QR code saves your name, phone, email, company and address to the other person’s contacts, with nothing to retype. No more typos, no more cards lost at the bottom of a bag.
- Name, title, company, phones, email, website, address
- Accents and non-English names handled properly
- Dynamic version: details editable at any time
- Contact page with Call, Email and Directions
How it works
- 1
Enter your details
In the generator, choose "Contact" (or "Business" for a company) and fill in the fields you need.
- 2
Choose static or dynamic
Static: the card is written into the code, for free. Dynamic: the code opens a contact page you can update.
- 3
Put it on your card
On the back of your card, in your email signature or on your booth: download as SVG or PDF for your printer.
Static or dynamic for a business card?
A static QR code holds your card in vCard format. It is free and works even offline: the phone immediately offers to add the contact. However, if you change your number or company, you need to reprint.
A dynamic QR code opens a Scanou contact page showing your up-to-date card, with Save contact, Call, Send an email and Directions buttons. You edit your details from your account, and every card already handed out follows. It is included from the Starter plan.
What details should you include?
Keep it to the essentials, so people can reach you without searching:
- First name, last name and job title.
- Company.
- Office and mobile phone, in international format (+1, +44…).
- Email address and website.
- Address, for directions.
Printing tips
On a business card, aim for at least 2 × 2 cm and strong contrast. The more details a static QR code holds, the denser it gets: a dynamic code, which only holds a short address, stays readable even when small. Add a line such as "Scan to add me" to prompt the gesture.
Frequently asked questions
Do you need an app to scan a vCard?
No. Recent smartphone cameras recognize the card and offer to add it to contacts.
What happens if I change my number?
With a dynamic QR code, you edit the card from your account and printed cards show the new version. With a static QR code, you need to create and print a new code.
Are accents and compound names handled properly?
Yes. Scanou produces vCard 4.0 cards in UTF-8: accents and special characters display correctly in the address book.
What about a company?
Choose the "Business" type: the card is saved as an organization, with its description, phone, website and address.
